Faster and more reliable, it’s now possible to upgrade your residential or business NBN connection to fibre in eligible areas across Central Queensland.
Selected homes and businesses serviced by the NBN network via the legacy copper network (FTTN) or Fibre to the Curb (FTTC) can upgrade to Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) with an eligible plan. You can upgrade to a plan with speeds of up to 1000 Mbps download, about ten times faster than FTTN.
To see if your current service is eligible for a faster fibre connection, check your address on our website. Once you find your address and click Check Your Address, if your premise is able to access the upgrade the message below will be shown:
You can then choose between our plans, including upgrading to our Ignite Turbo (250/25 Mbps) or our Ignite Stratos (1000/50 Mbps) plans. A requirement of the upgrade plan is to access a higher speed tier for 12 months following installation; for example, if your current service is 50/20 Mbps, you could upgrade one the plans above or our Launchpad Premium (100/40 Mbps) service.
Once approved, an appointment is scheduled to install your new fibre service. The process provides notifications via SMS in the lead up to the installation date, as well as information to prepare. In some cases you may receive a call to discuss your installation. However, note that nbn will never ask for remote access to any of your devices or services.
Note that if you’re renting, the technician will need your landlord’s approval for activity such as drilling into the property walls to install equipment. If you don’t have permission or have an authorised person at the premises this may lead to a subsequent appointment and extra cost.
Suburbs currently eligible for fibre on demand upgrades include Allenstown, Berserker Frenchville, Norman Gardens, Rockhampton City and Wandal in Rockhampton, Barlows Hill, Lammermoor and Taranganba on the Capricorn Coast and Kin Kora, Gladstone Central, South Gladstone and Tannum Sands in Gladstone.
Whether you’re streaming, learning or working in the cloud, check our nbn plans for faster fibre-enabled speeds to boost your online life.
